Robotman is a robotic super-hero with a human brain. In his civilian identity he was race-car driver Cliff Steele until an accident destroyed his body. His brain was only saved by the intervention of Niles Caulder, who transplanted it into a cold unfeeling robot body. He is a founding member of the Doom Patrol. In the Golden Age, the first character to use the name was Robert Crane as a member of the All-Star Squadron. Robotman was created in his Robert Crane incarnation by Jerry Siegel and Leo Nowak, first appearing in Star-Spangled Comics #7.
