History

Roy Raymond was a journalist and host of a documentary teleivsion series entitled "Impossible...But True!". A self-styled TV Detective, Raymond often went on location investigating unusual news stories that seldom made their way into the mainstream media. Roy's work often required him to debunk sensationalized stories, and he has exposed many hoaxes over the course of his career.

Roy Raymond has a keen insightful mind, and is capable of determining fact from fiction and exposing fradulent claims. He also has sharp business sense, and managed many of the day to day operations of his television series including booking events.

  • Roy Raymond was originally illustrated by artist Ruben Moreira. The writer of the original Roy Raymond stories remains unknown.
  • Roy Raymond was originally introduced as a backup feature in the pages of Detective Comics, replacing the longtime series vignette Slam Bradley. Initially the series was titled "Impossible... But True!" - the name of his television series, but eventually became known as "Roy Raymond: TV Detective". Roy's final appearance in the series was in Detective Comics #293.
  • Roy Raymond is not to be confused with the founder of the lingerie chain Victoria's Secret who shares his name.
  • Roy Raymond bears no relation to Ronnie Raymond, the teenage student who composed one half of the super-hero known as Firestorm.
  • Roy Raymond's TV assistant was named Karen Duncan. Other sources cite her name as Karen Colby.
  • Unlike many other Golden and Silver Age characters, Roy Raymond appears to have aged significantly since his first appearance.

Trivia

  • In Pre-Crisis Earth-One continuity, a criminal named Roger Rigers brainwashed Roy Raymond into becoming a terrorist for a time. Roy eventually crossed swords with Superman, but was soon rehabilitated. Whether or not this event is maintained in modern continuity is uncertain.
