Sal Buscema (b. January 26, 1936) is a comic book artist.

Professional History

Sal Buscema is an American comic book artist. He is one of the most important artists that have worked for Marvel Comics; having worked on all the major characters of that company. He began his career in 1968 working for Marvel as a cover artist on their title Uncanny X-Men. Since his debut, he worked solely for Marvel for almost 30 years. His first work for DC Comics was in the title Birds of Prey: Manhunt. He worked on several other titles as Shadow of the Bat; Catwoman; Detective Comics; Robin and many others.

Personal History

Sal was born and raised in New York City. He is the youngest brother of John Buscema. He attended the High School of Music & Art, graduating in 1955.

  • Sal Buscema received the Inkpot Award in 2003 and the Hero Initiative Lifetime Achievement Award in September 2013 at the Baltimore Comic-Con.
