Salu Digby aka Shrinking Violet was born on 30th Century Imsk, inheriting their native ability to shrink to microscopic size. Salu grew up a very quiet and shy young girl. Despite this, she decided to attempt to join the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Salu's combat prowess caught the attention of moderating Legionnaires Apparition and Spark. She aided them in solving the murder of a fellow competitor, Ion, who was murdered by Salu's third competition, Micro. Salu claimed she didn't want her spot on the Legion by default, but micro-cameras caught her battle with Micro and the Legion encouraged Salu to join them.

On a mission to the Scavenger's depot, Salu found the Emerald Eye of Ekron. The powerful artifact followed her to Earth and coaxed Salu into using its power. When Kinetix resurfaced, she was on a hunt for the Emerald Eye, so Salu kept it a secret. She began to use the Eye to help her teamates and with these gifts she was appointed leader of the team.

Shortly into her term, the Emerald Eye gave Leviathan his heart's desire to die in battle. Distraught Leviathan's death, Violet embraced the Emerald Eye fully and became "Emerald Violet." She took possession of her teammates, but was defeated. She wished for time to be turned back but all this did was strand her and the team in the 20th Century.

Salu and the Eye fled to space, where they were found by Mordru. He seduced Salu into becoming his bride. The Eye spurned the sorcerer, freeing Salu and attacking him alongside the Legionnaires. Salu ordered the Eye to leave her and be free. It was her contact with the eye that gave her powers similar to Leviathans.

Powers and AbilitiesEdit

Powers

Size Alteration: As a native of the planet Imsk, Salu Digby possesses the ability to shrink her body to minute size. Through the intervention of the Emerald Eye, she later developed the ability to increase her body mass to gigantic proportions similar to that of her colleage Leviathan.

Abilities

Espionage: Salu's ability to alter her physical size makes her an ideal spy. She honed her talents as a member of the Legion's Espionage Squad, and later the Legion Subterfuge Squad.

Hand-to-Hand Combat (Advanced): Salu is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant using special styles of unarmed combat depending on her size. If she is small, she takes advantage of the opponent's larger form by assaulting points on their body that they would not expect and move to another before they detected her. When at her LeViathan size, she would take advantage of her own massive form and use attacks that would either throw them off balance or render them unconscious.

Strength level

Salu has the normal human strength of a woman of her age, height, and build who engages in intensive regular exercise. She retains this level of strength even at microscopic-size. At giant size, Salu's strength varies according to the height she achieves: at 10 feet tall, she can lift (press) 1000 pounds, at 25 feet tall she can lift 10 tons. The higher Salu grows past 25 feet, the more of his strength she had to use simply to support her own enormous mass.

Legion Flight Ring: All Legionnaires were presented with a flight ring that enabled them to defy gravity and sustain movement through the air by aerodynamically generating force.

Emerald Eye of Ekron: provides the Emerald Empress a variety of of powers, similar to the effects of the Green Lantern Power Ring. The eye allows , she can fly and survive unharmed in the cold vacuum of space. At her command, it can attack her enemies with energy blasts powerful enough to take down even the likes of Superboy. It also protects her from attack by generating a nearly impenetrable force field around her. The Empress can also wield the Eye's power to suit more specific needs depending on her situation: it has given her superhuman strength on more than one occasion, and in another instance she was able to use its power to grow to gigantic size. In a recent appearance, the Eye gave the Empress the power to cast illusions and alter reality, rebuilding the planet of Orando into a medieval-like society as she envisioned it.
