Scarab is a Crime Syndicate counterpart of Blue Beetle.

Scarab was part of a team of villains from Qward. These seven were inspired by the Crime Syndicate that came before them. Their racket consisted of creating a natural disaster, getting paid, and rescuing the town. If a town could not pay their price, they would gladly let them perish.

As part of her ongoing rivalry with Maxwell Lord, Claire Montgomery set up a charity fight between her corporate superhero team, the Conglomerate, and Lord's Justice League International. Lord sabotaged her by poaching the Conglomerate members with their dream jobs. Short on team members and with very few suitable replacements, she was introduced to a team of what appeared to be heroes from another dimension. She had Norman the Doorman bring them to her office. Sensing an opportunity to take over this world, they agreed. After taking out the Justice League in the charity fight, nothing could stop them from taking over this world.

Their duplicity was discovered by Green Lantern, who recognized them as Qwardians. The charity event turned into an all-out fight, which was ended when Norman sent them all back to their dimension.
