The Shadow Strikes was published from 1989 until 1992 spanning a total of thirty-one issues and one Annual. The series centered around the exploits of licensed pulp hero, the Shadow and took place in a 1930s setting outside that of the mainstream DC universe. Originally, the Shadow was part of the established Earth-One continuity, and represented one of the few mystery men to ever operate on that world (Contemporary characters such as the Crimson Avenger and the Sandman were confined to the continuity of Earth-Two at that time).
