HistoryEdit

The Skull was an inhuman fiend who framed a jewelery heist on Patrolman Kip Burland. In fact, unknown to him, it was this act that created his own nemesis.

When the police found fellow officer Kip Burland passed out and with the jewels, they believed he was the looter. Kip was relived of his badge and was to go on trial for grand larceny. While on bail, he prowled the streets looking for the "masquerading corpse" who framed him.

Since the Skull always warned of his crimes before boldly committing them under the very eyes of the law, he was eventually captured by Kip and taken to death row. With the death of the Skull (he died on the electric chair),^[1] Kip Burland was no longer a wanted man, and he vowed to fight for justice as the costumed crime fighter the Black Hood.

How the Skull entered his crime career is not known. It is also unknown if his skin/face was really rotting flesh, or if he was only wearing a green skull mask.
