Synopsis for "No Exit"
Holden Carver recalls what happened two months ago at Imperial Grove, revealing that Francis Marsh was killed when his plane was blown out of the sky which left the monarchies accusing at each other for Marsh's death and their secret monarchy fracturing into warring factions. This resulted in rising tensions between China, Russia, and North Korea in which Tao gladly calls it the "New World Chaos" that he wanted to happen.
Holden is in a bar listening to a metahuman name Diesel Max, who bickers about a comic strip artist, while Holden thinks about last night...
A night ago, Miss Misery recalls to Holden that he have been dreaming a nightmare and yelling in his sleep about a man named Martinez to keep away from him, which she questions him as to who is Martinez. Holden only briefly explains that Martinez was someone he killed. It is reveal from Holden's perspective that Carlos Martinez was his second in command of his I.O. Black Ops unit, and that the real problem that bothers him most is having that dream again after not having it for so many years.
In the present, Genocide Jones forcefully stop Diesel Max's "whining" and he and Carver watches the news about Berlin being disappeared into another dimension, which Holden suspects it to be a demonstration for Tao's benefit. Triple X Ray arrives at the bar whom Holden was expecting for him.
Holden and Ray serves to represent Tao in dealing with a man name Anton Greeva. The two correspond in Anton's limousine which the deal was a offer for a briefcase containing an artificially made black hole developed with alien technology, which it was responsible for Berlin's disappearance. Ray confirms the case being legit, and Holden learns from Anton of how to disarm it. After this Holden reveals that he and Tao's people killed Anton's men before he arrived, which Holden then kills him and takes the black hole suitcase bomb and gives to one of the Syndicate men to be deliver to Tao. However, the bomb's delivery is jeopardized thanks to Holden's whistle-blowing to a superhero call Turbine, who appropriate the bomb.
Turbine returns to his hideout and is confronted by Holden. Turbine points his weapon at Holden, who then informs him that he was the one who tipped him off and the one needed to disarm the bomb. Turbine analyze him and acknowledge his criminal status which he doesn't believe him. Holden tries to convince him that he is a double agent and that with John Lynch's coma, he needs a new contact so he could help people than committing things that Tao have him to do. Turbine, however, remains cautiously distrustful and want Holden to be turned in for further questioning. Holden refuses and is immediately attack by Turbine, causing them to fight outside on a rooftop. After being shocked by Turbine's technology, Holden is charged up and used his power on him, which didn't kill him (as Holden had wisely chose him in case if Turbine didn't believe him and won't needlessly kill him). However, they are both struck by lightning, sending Holden to fall into an alley.
While unconscious, Holden dream about his past of how he received his powers during a botched I.O. recon operation of a Bleed artifact that Holden touched and received his powers, in which he accidentally killed his men with his new powers. Holden soon regain consciousness and sees a passing woman who saw him and attempt to help him. Knowing that his injuries is still charged in his body but barely able to talk, Holden tries to warn her to stay away from him, but it is too late.
