Synopsis for "The Messenger"
Holden Carver and his team, the Hounds, consisting Pit Bull and the new Torpedo, a werewolf called Blackwolf, kill and defeat Internal Operations' post-human operatives. The three came for what is inside an I.O. truck...
Four hours later, the Hounds celebrate their victory at one of Tao's hidden bases in a wooded region after the Syndicate's actions had been more "public". Holden is clearly uneasy which is noticed by Miss Misery. Holden then wander around the base and come into Miss Misery's tent where he sees her having intercourse with Blackwolf. Holden left the tent in distress, but is not mad at Miss Misery as her love for Holden would kill her. Holden goes over to a campfire and allow his hands to be burn.
Four hours in the past, both Blackwolf and Pit Bull are knocked unconscious by a lone operative who uses a electro-sonic pulse. Holden demand who he is, in which the man explains that he is a messenger who have a message from John Lynch. Holden doesn't believe him as he believed Lynch is still in a coma, but the messenger clearly explains that Lynch has awaken and that he has gone to considerable trouble to contact Holden. The messenger then tells Holden that Lynch's message was to meet Holden, and to earn Holden's trust he relay information of a woman responsible for the death of Holden's friend Genocide Jones. Also Lynch has something that Holden wanted the most, which the messenger states that he doesn't know what that is. Holden then points his gun at the messenger and tells him that John Lynch had the knowledge to know that he would used him as a disposable to relay his message. Fortunately, Holden only wants to let the messenger live with a wounded leg before telling him to tell Lynch that he (Holden) doesn't work for him.
In the present, Holden think of Lynch's offer and strongly, and despondently, believed that there is no way for him to be saved from his current situation. Miss Misery meets with Holden and wonders if he is still mad and hurt from what he saw. Holden is nonchalant and the two make love.
The next day, Holden learns from Tao that he knows that Lynch is out of his coma and unconcernedly acknowledged that he tried contacting Holden. Tao have already decided to have Holden to meet Lynch as he fully intends to use this for his elaborate advantage in killing Lynch once and for all.
