History

After the crash of a Durlan spaceship in Qinghai Province, the Chinese government confiscated the remains and brought them to the Great Wall Complex. There scientists reverse engineered the Durlan technology and then used it to developed new applications. One of these applications was a create a special suit that could contain the dangerous radioactive powers of the Socialist Red Guardsman, China's first superhero.

Capabilities

Based on Durlan technology, Gu Lao's suit enables him to interact with unshielded human beings, who otherwise would be killed by the lethal radiation he emits. The suit not only contain his radioactive powers, but helps him to better focus his plasma energy blasts via a projector in his chestplate. Gu Lao's suit also increases his durability to the point to that he can withstand Green Lantern's powers. A built-in air supply in the suit allows Gu Lao to survive for lengthy missions.

In addition, the suit doubles as a powered exoskeleton that increases Lao's strength to superhuman levels. It is this feature that enables him to move with surprising speed and agility despite the suit's great size and weight.
