Synopsis for "How Come You Do Me Like You Do Do Do?"
After putting on a puppet show imitating his planned Arkum Asylum reunion with the Joker, Ambush Bug tells Cheeks that his funding for his new mini-series has been pulled, and muses about his Japanese version and how popular it must be in Japan. The story then cuts to Japan where Ambush Bug's Japanese counterpart "Mitsu-Bishi" is busy at work at his monster hunting firm, when he is attacked by a giant monster named Gauguin, whom he battles in a giant suit of armor, however he gets eaten and meets his demise multiple times and in variations of popular film directors.
After pouring his heart out to a bartender, Ambush Bug returns home to Cheeks when he is confronted by a beautiful woman. This woman reveals that she is really Jonni DC and her character has been altered by the Interferer. She explains that the Interferer is an alien who was exiled from the world of trying to fix the Super-Bowl, and never being satisfied with the way reality is would use his vast cosmic powers to alter it to his whims. While patrolling space Jonni DC would cross paths and be turned into a super-heroine and can't go down the street without getting caught up in some adventure. She had come to seek Ambush Bug's help in stopping the Interferer figuring that Ambush Bug's awareness that he's a comic book character would give him an edge against this cosmic menace.
Before Ambush Bug can do anything the Interferer strikes, changing him into the cosmic super-hero Amber Butane, a super-hero armed with a yellow lighter that is an obvious parody of the Green Lantern. Breaking free from this and returning to his apartment, Ambush Bug is shocked to find that his beloved Cheeks had gone missing. Hours earlier, Cheeks found himself whisked away into the past during World War II and has become "Combat Cheeks", frontline medic who is pretty much useless in the battle field.
Trying to report Cheek's kidnapping to the police, they throw Ambush Bug out when he tells them it's his doll that's missing. Ambush returns home, dejected and completely unaware that a group of thugs have been hired to track him down.
