Stanley Dover, Younger (New Earth)

Stanley Dover was a normal six year old, living in Star City with his parents Mitch Dover and Sheila Dover. One day he was out playing chased his ball into a sewer drain, and found a humongous monster with large tusks lurking in the dark. little Stanley however was not afraid as he noticed the monster was hiding from him. The monster has been chased away and hunted every place in the world at one time or another during his 3,000 year existence. The monster convinced Stanley he was a dog, and he followed him home. He name the creature "Spot".[citation needed]

He took the monster home and made him a place to sleep in his closet. The two became best friends and enjoyed spending time with Stanley. However the carefree lives changed forever when Stanley's mother was reunited with her estranged father, Stanley Dover Sr. who little Stanley was named after. The old man had spent his life abroad engaging in hedonistic and satanic activities. Whilst in the United Kingdom Stanley senior had witnessed the imprisonment of Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams. He tried for years to enslave a demon or god, even daring to attempt the capture of another Endless, Morpheus sister, Death; but he always failed.[citation needed]

The innocent Stanley was overjoyed to meet his grandfather, having no knowledge of who he really is. The old man had almost given up, when out of the blue his fortunes changed when his grandson revealed his "Monster" hiding in the closet. The old man was taken back what his grandson had in his possession, he knew the monster was a demon and saw the chance to gain power.[citation needed]

Spot however sensed the old man's evil and ran away. This forced Stanley's grandfather into extreme measures to ferret out the beast, including child sacrifice and taking over the soulless Green Arrow, while Stanley was left trapped in a glass cage intended to hold the beast.[citation needed]

Eventually Spot came home and exercised retribution upon on the old man for hurting his friends and family.[citation needed]

  • Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-One era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985-86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
