Synopsis for "Two the Hard Way"
In Washington, D.C., Gravedigger has detained Duke for questioning. The terrorist refuses to talk, believing that the U.S. Government is not in the business of torturing detainees. He is wrong. Gravedigger gives him the choice to talk - or to lose the use of a digit; finger or toe. Duke opts for toe, so Gravedigger smashes a finger with a hammer. Despite the fact that the President will likely give him flack for what he did, Gravedigger has the information he needs.
Meanwhile, in Utah, Cat and Tiffany Roberts are escaping the facility beneath the Rinaldi spas, having learned that they were compromised during the night. They have thirteen minutes to get to the runway before the place is nuked. As the one who did the compromising, Jared Kabe spots the pair and attempts to eavesdrop on their conversation without breaking his partner's cover. He hears Cat saying that they will either be landing in San Francisco or Ecuador, which is enough to go on, as he watches Tiffany and Cat make their way to the plane. Looking over her shoulder, Tiffany spots Jared and is relieved.
Jared then turns his attention to locating the nuclear device. He soon finds help from a workman who had been unaware that the evacuation wasn't a drill, and upon learning that the threat of a nuclear device is real is happy to help Jared disable it. Unfortunately, they learn that the device can't be shut off without Forrest's say so, and there are only eight minutes to detonation. Borrowing the man's phone, Jared calls Grave Digger and reports what he's learned. He makes his way to the parking lot, and tries to drive as fast and as far as he can in the remaining seven minutes he has left. His car barely escapes the blast radius.
On the escaping jet, Forrest briefs the assembled passengers, warning that he is not happy about what's happened. Someone among them screwed up, and he intends to find out which one of them it was, and punish them. Because of the security compromise, though, their plan will have to be pushed ahead. Upon landing in San Francisco, they will begin preparations for the release of the Black Ice.
Jared's car wreck is spotted by a couple on the road, but when they see that he's obviously a zombie, they ditch him, and head on - into the radioactive wasteland left behind by the nuclear blast. As he extricates himself from his car, Jared sees the couple driving back his way, but they crash. From the wreckage they emerge as zombies - apparently affected by the same chemical agent that hit Tennessee, earlier. They attack him, but he is saved by a pair of agents, who retrieve him.
Upon arriving at the facility in San Francisco, Tiffany begs to be allowed to use the bathroom, where she beats her guard into unconsciousness and steals his gun. She suspects that her cover as a government agent is already broken, and resolves to contact Gravedigger with her location - if she can get out of it. Soon after making it upstairs, an alarm goes off, and she is forced to make a run for it into the woods nearby. She encounters a hippie van and forces the driver to let her borrow his phone as he drives her away. Unfortunately, despite reporting back to Gravedigger with the news, her van is stopped at a heavily armed roadblock, and she doesn't expect to get out alive. Gravedigger promises to make Forrest and his terrorists pay, while preparing Jared for their next move.
