The Unknown Soldier is to scout the landing area to ensure it is safe before the deadline.

The Unknown Soldier is parachuted into Holland. His infiltration is almost blown when a German soldier spotted him. The Nazis under Colonel Von Shutz comes over to the Dutch villagers and forcefully search their houses, but are unable to find the Soldier. The Soldier is in fact posing as a milk-seller. Despising the Nazis' maltreatment, the Dutchmen are seriously consider of fighting against their occupiers. However, Hendrik Voss, who knows everything in the lowlands, stubbornly insists to his countrymen to dissuade from fighting the Nazis as it would be suicide as long the Nazis leave them be. Voss in question is also the person the Unknown Soldier need his help. Predictably, Voss refuses to help the Soldier.

The next day, the Nazis replaces the tulip fields with steel spikes. Voss does nothing to stop them. But Voss's daughter Elrika and the Soldier up-ended the spikes during the night. This infuriates Colonel Von Shutz, who then orders his men to round up hostages, including Elrika. Voss angrily blames this on the Soldier.

The Soldier, still posing as a milk-seller, infiltrate Colonel Von Shutz's HQ and learning from Elrika that the Nazis have minded the main sea dike, and Von Shutz plans on destroying it when the paratroopers land. The Soldier is unable to warn London to call off the jump when his radio is indirectly destroyed by a callous German soldier.

The Unknown Soldier is able to convince Voss to help him after relaying him of the Nazis' plans that will also destroy the lowlands. They and the Dutchmen tries to find the mines' detonator, but found nothing. The Soldier propose a risky alternative: he and Voss confront a Nazi officer and takes his uniform. But Voss is shot in the process. Disguised as a Nazi officer, the Unknown Soldier fools Colonel Von Shutz to believing the detonator has been tamper, allowing the Soldier to be guide by Von Shutz to the detonator. Just as the Allied airplanes arrive, the Soldier kills Von Shutz before he could activate the detonator.

The Unknown Soldier brings Elrika back to her father. The Allied paratroopers make their landing in which the sight of their parachutes reminds Voss of blossoming white tulips.
