History
Star Hawkins was an intergalactic detective, during the 21st Century. With the assistance of his faithful robot-secretary, Ilda, the two solved several mysteries by pure luck and wild coincidence. They located several fugitives, kidnappers and alien spies during their adventures together.
He was constantly short on cash and sent Ilda to Mr. Viozi's pawnshop on several occasions in order to meet expenses. Each time she came back from the shop, she would continue to work for him, but realized that she might be pawned off again.
Though Hawkins demonstrated competent detective skills, it was usually Ilda's quick thinking, and her knack for stumbling onto a crime, which kept him employed as a private eye.
However, in 2092, Hawkins was able to retire quite wealthy, and Ilda was married. It was during this adventure where the two met Automan: the automatic man and Stella Sterling.[1]
Hawkins was hired to protect Stella Sterling, even though she already had a bodyguard robot -- Automan. Ilda and Automan worked together (with Hawkins) to prevent Ms. Sterling from being kidnapped, though it was really Automan that the kidnappers wanted. While solving the case, the two robots fell in love and they became life-mates.
Hawkins and Ms. Sterling received a quarter of a billion credits by capturing the would-be kidnappers. They used the money to open The Hawkins-Sterling Academy of Robot-Detection, a place where robots can learn how to be detectives.
Several years later, he lost his billions and his private investigator license. He ended up living near the Stardocks on Hardcore Station, a corrupt commercial satellite residence. The "Eternal Light Corporation," a commercial front for the Church of the Eternal Light, sent a rogue telepath after him and his buddy Captain Comet. The rogue succeeded in killing them both.[2]

- Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-One era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985–86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
