Courtney Whitmore is Stargirl, a junior member of the Justice Society of America and the JSA All-Stars. The step-daughter of Stripesy donned the gear, and took the name of the Star-Spangled Kid to annoy her new stepfather, but has since risen to higher levels. After Jack Knight retired as Starman, he passed the Cosmic Staff on to Courtney. She renamed herself Stargirl, and now carries on both the legacy of Star-Spangled Kid and Starman.

Courtney Whitmore first appeared in Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. #0 (1999), and was created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder.
