Synopsis for "Erroneus Assumptions"

With the Weird under Synnar's control, he jetissons the two Thanagarian officers out of their scout ship and heads to Hardcore. He also alerts Deacon Dark that he has returned. Dark reports that the Thanagarian conversions are going well for the Eternal Light Corporation. The Weird enters Comet's apartment on Hardcore but he only finds the Mortician and his thugs ransacking the place. The Mortician orders his men to rough up the Weird for information which will be the last mistake he will ever make.

Elesewhere, Eye goes looking for Comet in his Hole beneath the municipal level. Eye tells Comet that Max's efforts to smooth things out with Mortician aren't going well but he is tied up with a separate case involving the unauthorized docking of a Thanagarian scout ship. Both Tyrone and Eye convince Comet to take Max's advice and leave Hardcore for a time. Eye has arranged for a ship to rendezvous with Comet at Hardcore's main terminal. The three of them head to Dock B-725 but they are stopped by Max. Max reports that the Mortician and his gang were found mutilated in Comet's apartment.

Eye provides Comet with an alibi to Max which clears him of any implication in the murder of the Mortician and his crew. Max leaves the three of them to deal with the bloody mess left in Comet's living room. The Weird enters from Comet's bedroom. Comet reads Weird's mind and senses Synnar's presence. Synnar attempts to quell the friction between him and Comet by telling him that since his merger with the Weird, a chain of catastrophic events has been set in motion which will mean the end of the universe. Comet doesn't believe Synnar but Eye convinces him otherwise.

Menawhile, Adam brings a radical theory to Sardath. The empty void in the universe is due to the fact that someone or something has caused a cluster of stars to disappear. Sardath doesn't believe him then another star vanishes from the dark zone. Adam tries to point it out to Sardath but Sardath shows Adam his astronomical chart which has no recording of any astral body in that sector. Adam then realizes that everytime a star is removed from the universe it causes an alteration in reality which warps everybody's perception including Sardath's.

Sardath writes off Adam's theory as delusion and walks off. After bidding his daughter farewell, Adam heads to the dark zone to prove his theory. Adam comes across one star outside of the dark zone but then it suddenly disappears. Adam tries to report this anomaly to the Green Lantern Corps but the Weird's astral eyes appear before Adam in the dark zone.

As for Prince Gavyn, both he and Alanna have come across biological samples that they collected during the final battle with Synnar. Gavyn holds hope that some of his people are still alive after Lady Styx was destroyed. Gavyn runs the samples through his DNA decoder and readings come back with a complex result. It seems that there was only one survivor...Lady Glaxar.

Synopsis for "Deals and Choices"

Maya Glaxar is dressed from head to toe with Throneworld's finest dressings as she walks through Hardcore. Her reputation as a gold digger is well known on Throneworld. At one point, she married and outlasted her wealthy husband who was four times her age. Glaxar has recently taken up residence on Hardcore and has become a part of the station's board of directors who operate dozens of the largest corporations. Despite her lavish parties, obscene shopping expenditures and numerous sex scandals, Glaxar still holds her title.

Glaxar heads to Factor Zero where she meets with Mr. Graylock. Factor Zero discretely deals with any opposition to any of the corporations on Hardcore. Their services include kidnapping, ransom negotiations, extractions and assassinations. Glaxar pays Graylock a huge sum to have Bizarro killed. Glaxar returns to her home where her mystical adviser Lysarow is observing Bizarro's movements. Glaxar removes her hat which concealed a leech like entity in the form of Lady Styx. Styx is using Glaxar's body as a host until she regain her strength.

Meanwhile, Coriolis comes across Bizarro and angrily assumes that Bizarro killed Hawkman. Bizarro grew tired of Coriolis' whining and threw across the desolate terrain of this unknown dimension. Bizarro flies over a bloody feud between two warring clans. One clan is comprised of religious fanatics who will crucify anyone that doesn't agree with them while the others are a band of fascists who want to enslave everybody else. Synnar appears before Bizarro as Superman again and asks him which faction will he side with.

Bizarro answers by swooping into a volcano and causing an eruption. The molten lava trail creates a barrier between the surviving clan members. Fascists will have the eastern side and the zealots will have the west. Synnar is impressed with Bizarro's quick thinking as well as choosing not to take a side. Synnar notices Coriolis heading back to Bizarro's location so he shows Bizarro another portal that will test his mental capacity before fading away. With Bizarro nowhere in site, Coriolis uses Dark's locator crystal to track down Bizarro's whereabouts.

Notes

  • the Story of the vanishing Stars is reminiscent of Starlin's work on Adam Warlock in the 70's for Marvel; even the "Astral Eyes" which seem to be the Weird's new Form are taken from Warlock's Enemy of that Issues, the Star Thief (Barry Bauman)
