History
The Republic of Sudan is a country in northeastern Africa. It is the largest in the African continent and the Arab World, and tenth largest in the world by area. It is bordered by Egypt to the north, the Red Sea to the northeast, Eritrea and Ethiopia to the east, Kenya and Uganda to the southeast,Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic to the southwest, Chad to the west and Libya to the northwest.
Years ago, the sorceror Tannarak used his power to instil feelings of hate and rage amongst the populace. The Phantom Stranger engaged him in combat and succeeded in destroying Tannarak's pyramid lair. [1]
Years later, an amateur occultist Gary Lester went to the Sudan to perform an exorcism on a young Sudanese boy apparently possessed by the hunger demon Mnemoth. The exorcism failed, but Lester managed to capture a slice Mnemoth's essence inside of a bottle. Shortly thereafter, Lester's friend John Constantine traveled to the Sudan to learn more about Mnemoth. [2]
