HistoryEdit
Sul-Van was a member of the Kryptonian Science Council on the planet Krypton. His daughter, Lara, was married to fellow scientist Jor-El. Like his peers, Sul-Van felt that Jor-El's concerns regarding the planet's geothermic upheavel was merely an act of paranoia. Jor-El broke into the planet's centralized computer mainframe, Braniac Control, and confirmed his worst suspicions. When Sul-Van learned of this, he had a change of heart and aided Jor-El in evading arrest. Sul-Van died when the planet Krypton exploded.

- The character of Sul-Van is exclusive to the continuity of Superman: The Animated Series. His comic book counterpart is Lor-Van, the Pre-Crisis father to Lara Lor-Van and grandfather to Superman.
