Notes

  • Mars 1 is the first manned mission to Mars.
  • Colonel Wilcox, Superman, and Dr. Gulliver all refer to the Superfriends as the Justice League.
  • Batman refers to the Hall of Justice as Justice League HQ.
  • Dr. Gulliver's ray reduces Superman's powers as well as his size.

Trivia

  • Dr. Gulliver's name is likely a reference to Gulliver's Travels. Interestingly the Lilliputians are 6 inches tall while Dr. Gulliver's machine makes people 2 inches tall.
  • The 'Giant' in the title may be a homage to the Brobdingnagians in the second story of Gulliver's Travels which involves people who are around 72 feet tall. In fact, many of the encounters the miniaturized people have with normal sized animals are similar to Gulliver's encounters with the giant animals of Brobdingnagian.
  • This episode marks the TV debut of the character Green Arrow.
