Synopsis for "The Borrowed Brain!"
Linda Danvers and her friends are having fun at a swimming party. Linda is romanced by a student called David Grahm. All of sudden an earthquake hits and Linda's super-senses tell her the San Andreas Fault has flared up. Linda quickly heads off to help as Supergirl.
Meanwhile, it's revealed David Grahm is a gangleader who plots perfect crimes which his men execute for him and uses his enrollment as a student at Vandyre University as a cover. And he taking a fancy to Linda was part of his cover.
As Linda is away, her roommate Terri is going to take a dip. David sees she's about to hit her head on a chunk of concrete on the bottom of the swimming pool and tries to save her to reinforce his "good American boy" façade. He hits his own head instead and sustains a brain injury.
Upon returning, Linda blames herself for being away. She takes him to the Fortress of Solitude and at considerable pain to herself, Supergirl uses Kandorian brain-surgery equipment to transfer some of her brain cells to David's head to replace his damaged cells.
David not only recovers but also gains super-powers when the cells multiply. David creates a costume with a lead mask, and calling himself Super-Scavenger, starts out a crime spree. He even loots his old gang whom he no longer needs.
Supergirl fights him, and in spite of the mask deduces his real identity. And she knows he'll lose his powers soon because all Kryptonian power-transfers are always temporary. Super-Scavenger's powers vanish as flying and he goes down. Supergirl feels torn as she watches him falling: he nearly died because she wasn't around. She saved his life... and he wasted his second chance becoming a criminal.
Nonetheless, Kara saves him from falling to his death and turns him in to the police. Depowered, he isn't a threat anymore.
Later, Terri and Sabra ask Linda to come boy-hunting with them, but Linda says she isn't ready yet.
