Synopsis for "Queen"

In Metropolis, Supergirl is encased in amber in a great hive-like building; Gangbuster comes to rescue her, and the two escape. Supergirl learns that 2 days earlier, the hospital was engulfed in a hive, and some SciPo officers went in to investigate the phenomenon, but did not come out. Supergirl talks to Kimiyo Hoshi (alias Dr. Light) about Lana's condition, and Light is unsure if there is any hope of saving her. Supergirl and Ganbuster decide to go on a stealth mission to save Lana.

Inside the giant cocoon, Supergirl fights off some insects, but is overcome by an ambush swarm, captured, and brought before Lana Lang, who is now the Insect Queen. She explains that during her last encounter with Lana, [1] she left a piece of herself in Lana, and has been building inside of her for the past year, cell by cell. This ensured that she could stay close to the Superman family, with whose DNA she intended to create an army of super-drones to protect her.

Supergirl manages to free herself and call STAR Labs' bombing run. She then fights the Insect Queen, determined to free her 'family' of the alien insect's clutches. Using an advanced de-bugging device designed by Dr. Jacob Finlay, Supergirl was able to strip Lana of her insect DNA, which in turn eliminated the insect monsters under her command.

A distraught Supergirl then asks Lana why she had kept her disease a secret from her; Lana reasoned that, as New Krypton and all of Earth needed Supergirl, she was too important to get wrapped up in the problems of one person. Supergirl refuses to accept what she sees as betrayal, and flies away, saying she no longer wanted to be a Lang, or even human; this leaves Lana to deal with the fact that she is now alone.

Back at Project 7734, Lucy Lane is seen to have been resurrected as an amalgam of "all" the alien races whose powers were in the Superwoman suit, with all their powers and weaknesses. Lucy kills the physician supervising her with an electric blast, and says she is ready for duty.
