Synopsis for "The Super-Outlaw From Krypton"

One day, Superman begins acting very strangely, bungling up all of his super-powered rescues by doing things in impractical ways, causing untold amounts of property damage, making the world wonder what happened to the Man of Steel to make him mess things up so badly. However, as it turns out, this is not Superman at all, but an imposter named Kull-Ex. As public opinion turns against Superman, we learn that Kull-Ex was the son of a scientist that worked close to Jor-El before Kryptons destruction. Kull-Ex's father accused Jor-El of stealing his ideas for the personal gain, not listening to Jor-El's explanation of coming up with a similar idea and turning the discovery over to the government for free. Discredited, the father and son would end up in the city of Kandor, which of course ended up being shrank by Brainiac and now is in possession of Superman in his Fortress of Solitude.

One day, Kull-Ex tricked Superman into contacting him, and used one of his inventions to swap places with Superman. Kull-Ex, determined to avenge his fathers humility created a life-like mask to make himself look like Superman and begin discrediting the hero, while Superman himself was trapped in the bottle city, powerless to stop Kull-Ex from his task. Superman meanwhile has been trying to escape Kandor and clear his name, however his attempts have all been unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, Kull-Ex has now gone from messing up missions to wanton acts of destruction, when smashing the Sphinx in Egypt, he is confronted by Supergirl who is worried about her "cousins" recent activity, and soon learns the truth. Rushing to Superman's Fortress of Solitude, she rescues the miniaturized Superman from the bottle city. When Kull-Ex catches up to Supergirl, he has to face not only the Maid of Steel, but the miniature Superman, who still has his powers in spite of his small stature. While Superman keeps Kull-Ex busy, Supergirl and Krypto carry the Fortress of Solitude into deep space, where they use the light rays that came from Krypton to project a recreation of the time when his father lost the designs for the car that he thought Jor-El stole. Watching the scene, Kull-Ex realizes that as a child he had used the reverse side of his fathers blue prints to draw pictures on, and that this picture was ultimately destroy when it was fed to junk-eater animal following a trip to a Kryptonian zoo.

Realizing the truth, Kull-Ex reforms, and after the Fortress of Solitude is returned to Earth, he tells the truth to the people of Earth, clearing Superman's name before allowing himself to be returned to the bottle city of Kandor.
