Synopsis for "Beauty and the Super-Beast!"
Lois Lane is launched into space but a meteor threatens her capsule. Superman attempts to destroy it but is only able to divert it away. As the meteor heads towards Washington, Superman catches up and this time manages to shatter it. Meanwhile Lana Lang leads an expedition to Crete to search for Circe's tomb, following clues in an ancient papyrus. The clues prove to be correct and she uncovers Circe asleep in a glass-topped coffin. When the lid is opened, Circe awakes and immediately threatens Superman for previously scorning her. She is brought to the Metropolis Museum where she confronts the Man of Steel, using her magic to give him the head of a lion, but then decides that it is too noble a beast and changes his head to that of a mouse. She then uses her powers to force him to do her bidding. As he prepares to dig the foundations for the new City Hall, Circe orders him to dive deep into the Earth to retrieve a handful of gravel. Superman is able to kick out a large slab of bedrock, thus creating the foundations, while still obeying her command. Then, as he follows a tip-off to foil a bank robbery, Circe commands him to juggle while hovering upside-down. Superman is able to disable the miniature tank the robbers are using by throwing the juggling balls at it. Circe accepts that she will never persuade Superman to marry her, and vanishes. Superman scans the skies with his super-vision and sees an alien spacecraft belonging to the Revenge Squad breaking orbit and heading away from Earth. He meets up with Circe, who proves to be Saturn Woman in disguise. The Superman Revenge Squad had hit the Man of Steel with an experimental ray that left him powerless--unless, as he discovered, he was upside-down. To make them think the ray was a failure, Superman came up with the Circe plan to give him an excuse for performing his super-feats head down. He sent Krypto into the future to fetch Saturn Woman, who created a fake tomb so she could be 'discovered' as Circe by Lana's expedition, with her shape-shifting pet Proty II giving the impression that Superman's head had changed to those of a lion and a mouse. When the effects of the ray had worn off, it was safe to end the ruse and the Revenge Squad withdrew, never knowing that their plan had succeeded.
