Synopsis for "The Longest Day"

The alien Dominators prepares for a full-scale invasion of the planet Earth, but first they must make certain to eliminate the greatest threat to their plans – the plant elementals. They monitor the actions of previous plant elementals who have long ago emigrated to new worlds. Confident that they can keep the power of these beings contained, they concentrate their efforts on neutralizing the Swamp Thing.

In the swamps of Houma, the Swamp Thing uses his powers to create furnished abode out of hardwood. He even makes a crib for his soon-to-be infant child. Abby is very content with the way things have been going, particularly since they no longer need to worry about the Sprout situation. Alec sours Abby's good mood by telling her that he has business to address with the Parliament of Trees.

The Swamp Thing goes to Brazil where he confers with the Parliament elder, Alex Olsen. Olsen congratulates him on the recent Sprout crisis and for paving the way for the next lineage of plant elementals. He warns him however of a menace from beyond the stars that will soon seek to destroy him. Alec quickly grows frustrated with the Parliament and leaves.

He goes to the top of the world where he expands his consciousness across the entirety of the planet. He bolsters his courage and is ready for whatever threat may await him.

In space, the Dominators aim a device called the Matrix Disruptor at the Earth. The disruptor catches Alec Holland’s astral self and dispels it across the timestream.

In Louisiana, Abby returns home with Chester Williams. She is horrified to find that her new home is now petrified and lifeless.
