- While DC had acquired a license to print a T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents series from then-owner John Carbonaro of JC Comics in 2003, the series to be written by Marc Andreyko made significant character changes that caused Carbonaro to veto it. Instead of trying to revamp the idea, DC published archive editions to maintain the license until Carbonaro's death allowed DC to acquire the rights from his estate in 2009, resulting in this series.
