Synopsis for "Tangent: Superman's Reign - Chapter 9"

On Tangent Earth, in one of the Superman's secret vaults, Batman is leading a team against the security robots. Lori Lemaris, that, of the group, only herself and Batman have no powers, and yet everyone defers to his plans. Using the Flashes' speed and the Spectre's intangibility, he is able to circumvent the robots and get at the Superman's logs, in search of one piece of information that Halo didn't have.

On New Earth, Guy Gardner, Superman and Power Girl are reeling from the news that the Tangent Superman has kidnapped every leader on Earth. Superman is sure they are still alive, but Guy is less optimistic. Power Girl it is linked to the Superman's parallel world.

At an undisclosed location, the Superman is facing the leaders of the world. Giving them the abilty to overcome language barriers, he asks for their help in saving the world from itself. Their responses are loud and angry, but the Superman sees that most of them are motivated by fear that he will rob their countries. Several refuse to cede power on the grounds that the Superman 9is unelected, but Powergirl points out that many of those present took power illegally, through military actions or rigged elections. The Superman promises to return briefly - and if anyone tries to escape, he will drop them in the Pacific Ocean.

At the Hall of Justice, Superman is pondering the problems when he receives word the the US Navy has lost contact with a carrier group in the Pacific. Je is about to dismiss this, when he realises that a carrier group would be the perfect holding place for a crowd of thousands. He says the League must "get our specialist on this".

Less than a day later, Vixen has found the carrier group with the help of a pod of dolphins. No one is on the decks the vessels, but before she can investigate, she is ambushed.

Flying towards, Superman notes that something is blocking his telescopic vision - a sure sign that things is amiss. However, the three heroes are attacked by a missile and a squadron of F-18s. Realising that the aircraft are remotely controlled with no pilots, the heroes cut loose - but the last jet contains a nuclear device. The explosion obscures the heroes. On the carrier, the Superman promises to deal with the fallout from the explosion. With such an explosion, surely the leaders of the world will co-operate...

On Tangent Earth, Batman, Manhunter and Tangent Batman are breaking into a luxurious mansion. They are threatened by the homeowner - Superman's ex, Lola Dent, presumed dead for years, and the only person who can help them.

Synopsis for "History Lesson - Chapter 9"

At the Nightwing complex, the hacker Guy does not believe that the group Hayden and Jaime represent can overthrow the Superman. Guy says he doesn't want to join, and Hayden responds that she didn't want to see her brother sent to a prison camp. She asks him to tell her about Manhunter.

No-one knows who the Manhunter is. However, the theory that makes the most sense, to Guy at least, is that she was a child during the Czech war in 1968. The war left her horribly scarred and orphaned, and she decided in her rage to take on the war criminals of the world. She trained hard, getting help from somewhere to build her robotic dog, "Pooch". She took on the escaped war criminals who had tried to hide in South America in the Caribbean. No-one knows what she was doing in America, but while there she helped form the Secret Six. Sticking around, she toned down her violent streak but told the team little. She remained with the team until they took on Superman in Washington just after he took power.

Using Manhunter as an example, Hayden succeeds in convincing Guy to go along with them. However, Jaime doesn't quite trust him - for a computer geek, Guy has surprisingly well-developed muscles...
