Synopsis for "The Insiders"
Superboy is at odds with the notion that the human elements of his cloned DNA were culled from Lex Luthor. For weeks now, he has been growing concerned that he may have inherited a portion of Luthor's corrupting influence. Suddenly, a signal goes off in his head and he shaves himself bald and carves the letter L into his shirt. Red energy begins seeping out of his eyes.
Like a zombie, Superboy lumbers downstairs. Without saying a word, he attacks the rest of the Titans. His teammates try to restrain him, but they are greatly outclassed. It quickly becomes obvious that Superboy is no longer in control of himself. He flashes Raven with an intense burst of heat vision and tears Cyborg into pieces. He then throws Cassie outside and slams her viciously into a tree. Robin tries to contain Superboy, but Conner breaks Robin's arm. Broken and bleeding, Robin calls for help. He calls the Outsiders.
At the Outsiders HQ, the team receives Robin’s message. Suddenly, Indigo goes berserk and turns on the group. She declares herself to be Brainiac 8.

Synopsis for "The Insiders (Part III)"
The Teen Titans are at the S.T.A.R. Labs site in Palo Alto. The place is over-run with renegade Superman robots. Brainiac 8 (formerly Indigo of the Outsiders) has set the robots against the Titans.
The real Brainiac has downloaded his essence into a new body. He confers with Brainiac 8 about the future of his home world Colu. To preserve Colu, certain measures had to be taken. The first was the death of Donna Troy. Now it is time to get rid of the rest of the legacy sidekicks. Wonder Girl freaks out and goes berserk on the Superman robots. The memory of her predecessor’s death is still extremely fresh in her mind.
Just as the Titans finish clearing out the rest of the Superman robots, Lex Luthor and the brainwashed Superboy arrives. Superboy attacks the Titans and unleashes several deadly volleys of heat vision. Cassie snares her magic lasso around Superboy's body and channels all of her rage into it until it generates a massive electric shock. The mystical charge is enough to snap Superboy out of his mental programming.
But then, Brainiac 8 arrives and swoops down and grabs Wonder Girl about the throat.

Synopsis for "The Insiders (Part IV)"
Indigo attempts to override her Brainiac-8 programming, but is finding it increasingly difficult to do so. The Outsiders and the Teen Titans are caught in a crossfire between Brainiac, Lex Luthor and a mind-controlled Superboy. Luthor turns his weaponry upon Wonder Girl, causing her no small amount of injury. The shock of seeing this breaks Superboy's mental programming and he returns to normal. Although the Kryptonite in Luthor's gauntlet weakens him, he continues to advance and prevents Luthor from attacking anyone else. As always though, Luthor manages to escape.
The larger threat however is Brainiac himself. Nightwing orders Starfire to take to the sky and unleash the full might of her power. She directs her attack towards Brainiac's ship and it comes crashing to the ground. The others concentrate their firepower on Indigo. They weaken her to the point of death, but in her final moments, she is truly herself again. Before dying, she professes her love to Shift.
From the planetoid of New Chronus, Donna Troy, back from the dead, monitors events taking place on Earth.

Synopsis for "Soul Searching"
It has been one month since Superboy suffered under the brainwashing of Lex Luthor. Since that time, he has taken leave of the Teen Titans and placed himself into secret quarantine at the Kent farm. Currently he wanders the wheat fields reflecting on all of the terrible deeds he committed while under Luthor’s control.
Raven arrives and suddenly engulfs Superboy inside of her soul self. His mind is cast backwards towards the day he first emerged from the cloning tanks at Project: Cadmus. He then envisions himself in the Batcave consulting with Superman and Batman. He further reflects on the older version of himself that he encountered while traveling ten years into the future.
After a seeming eternity, he emerges from Raven’s soul self. She recalls when Superboy asked her if he had a soul. Raven tells him that he does indeed have a soul, and that it is young, new and growing. She asks him to come back to the Titans in San Francisco, but Superboy tells her that he is not yet ready.
Meanwhile, in a nether-dimension, Brother Blood prepares to return to Earth and reclaim Raven in the name of the Church of Blood.
