Synopsis for "Awake, Barbaric Titan!"

Gnarrk loses his job at the Forbes Foundation, a social research institution, when his past as a rehabilitated Cro-Magnon man becomes known. To help him forget his disappointment, Mr. Jupiter and the Titans take him along on a geological survey trip to the American Southwest. On the trail of bank robbers who have taken advantage of an evacuation due to a nerve gas leak to loot a town, the Titans find themselves in a hidden canyon, home of the descendants of an Aztec Indian tribe, who take the group captive. Gnarrk is allowed to remain free, but having learned not to use his awesome strength, cannot break his new conditioning to help his friends, until Lilith is injured. Then Gnarrk runs wild, smashing the Indians, and finally menacing even Lilith, until the sound of her voice brings him back to his senses. Freed by the Aztecs, who now recognize Gnarrk as a superior warrior, the Titans discover that the bank bandits have become victims of a poisoned stream, and return their bodies and loot to civilization, while keeping secret the hidden native tribe's existence.
