Terri Kurtzberger was the daughter of Terry Curtis, the reluctant super villain called Cyclotron. Curtis's experiments with atomic radiation seemingly gave the infant Terri radiation poisoning, and Curtis was blackmailed by the villainous Ultra-Humanite into serving him in return for Ultra using his science to save the child. Ultimately, Curtis sacrificed his own life to stop Ultra's schemes, and his daughter (who was actually fine, Ultra having tricked Curtis into believing she was ill) grew up as the god-daughter of Al Pratt, AKA the Atom, and Danette Reilly AKA Firebrand, two of the All-Star Squadron who had been opposing Ultra (Danette was an old flame of Curtis's).

As an adult, Terri became a scientist working at Cape Canaveral, and met and married Philip Rothstein. The couple had a son, Albert, but when Albert was still a small child, Philip (a military helicopter pilot) was lost in action, presumed dead when his 'copter blew up. Terri raised Albert alone, eventually realizing that the radiation, which had not affected her as a baby, had actually caused a genetic mutation in Albert which caused him to grow to a freakish height and develop super powers. Albert eventually grew up to become the superhero named Nuklon, a founding member of Infinity Inc., and later joined the Justice Society of America as Atom Smasher.

Terri was killed when the terrorist Kobra caused a plane she happpened to be traveling on to crash. Later, however, Albert forced the time traveling villain Extant to take his mother's place, saving Terri but killing Extant.

  • Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-Two era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985-86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and no longer apply.
