History

Tethys is one of the Titans, an extra-dimensional race of beings once worshiped as gods by the people of Ancient Greece and whose descendants are the Olympians. Tethys is a citizen of Olympus and Goddess of the ocean. The general public is unaware of Tethys except as a mythological character.

Notes:

  • Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-One era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985-86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
  • In Greek myth, Tethys was one of the Titans who helped Zeus overthrow Cronus.
  • In Greek Myth, Tethys was the foster-mother of Hera, Hestia and Demeter.
