- So that's what this is all about, then? Stuffing your face?
No. It's about revenge. It was always about revenge.- — The Beast src
The Beast was a creature created by God in the Garden of Eden.
History
Origin
When Adam named the animals in the Garden of Eden, the Beast managed to escape being named. Without a name, he did not have a physical form and this allowed him to take any form he wanted, eventually escaping the physical world. The Beast then followed Adam out of the Garden, hoping to destroy him and his family, but another creature; called the Shadow Dog, was created to protect mankind from him. However, the Dog began to be associated with the Beast's actions, causing people to believe he was the cause of them.[1]
Freed and Defeat
After the Shadow Dog appeared in the dreams of the crimelord Domine Fredericks to prevent the doors between worlds from being opened, John Constantine created a magician task force to kill him, inadvertently unleashing the Beast, who was possessing Jason, Angie Spatchcock's brother.[2][1]
The Beast then took over the minds of nearly all of humanity, causing atrocities across the world, and even defeating Constantine's team and Swamp Thing. However, Gemma Masters, Constantine, Angie, Chas Chandler, and Swamp Thing, were able to resurrect the Shadow Dog from the collective unconscious of mankind, who consumed and finally killed the Beast.[3][4][5]
