Synopsis for "Fate & Fire"

Joe is travelling away from the town of Vernon when he meets a stranger who offers him a lift. Joe refuses but it seems the driver knew who he actually was, calling him by name. Joe does not like this and changes into Brimstone and flips the car.

From inside the flames his opponent is revealed, Doctor Fate leaps into combat with Brimstone and Fate manage to bind Brimstone while he evaluates the situation. He discovers the power is primal and that Joe has only been using a small percentage of his potential, as Fate tries to alleviate some of the power Brimstone breaks free from the binding spells.

Though Fate uses some powerful spells, he soon finds himself at the mercy of Brimstone who pins him down and begins to melt the Helmet of Fate onto Kent's face. Soon after Kent flees from combat, leaving only Joe to think on what he has done and where Annie could have gone.

In Parsonville, Alabama, Jack Smith sits eating cereal surrounded by a deceased family as Annie breaks into the door and levels the shotgun at Jack.
