Synopsis for "Futures End - Chapter 22"

On the steps of Columbia University, Jason Rusch encounters Madison Payne handing out flyers for a rally in favour of equality for Earth 2 refugees. He wonders if she'll be at their study group that night, or if she'll be working. Sadly, she admits that she quit her job because there were too many lies.

Jason arrives late to his meeting with his mentor, Dr. Yamazake, who, having learned of the deception that the Superman seen about of late was actually Shazam, is only strengthened in his position that the Justice League is hoarding their special technologies because they believe they are superior. As such, he wants his transporter device to be operational as soon as possible. He explains that the illusion was surely to make the people believe that Superman hadn't abandoned everyone - this current Superman is just a sham as far as he is concerned. None of the League can be trusted anymore.

At the nearby Wounded Duck bar, Cal Corcoran is forced to turn Billy Batson away because he hasn't yet hit the drinking age, when he is interrupted by Ronnie Raymond, whom he recognizes as the man he threw out some time back. He explains that he has come to apologize for his bad behaviour. As an act of forgiveness, Cal offers him a soda on the house, reminding that alcohol is probably part of Ronnie's problem. When Ronnie asks after Madison, to apologize to her too, Cal admits that she probably won't be back for a while - and it's his fault.

In Las Vegas, Voodoo, Mercy and their muscle are breaking into a building when they realize that it's been too easy. Soon, they receive confirmation that their arrival was expected, and keep their guard up, as they prepare to meet their quarry. Meanwhile, Cole Cash's computer support, Justin complains of his having to be holed up in a hotel while they do all the work. Bored and suspicious, he decides to hack into Cadmus, and see what they have on the women.

Back in New York, Terry McGinnis explains where he comes from and what Plastique saw to her. She becomes frustrated when he claims that the world will essentially be over within thirty years. He explains how Brother Eye was created to protect humanity, but after observation, it learned that humanity's greatest threat was itself. Humanity's differences, to an outside intelligence, appeared as the gateway to humanity's destruction. As such, the satellite set out to destroy those differences by creating a hive mind. The creature that resembled Plastique, which she saw, was herself after her assimilation. Shaken, she insists that she will help him - whether he wants it or not - because she can't turn out that way. Despite his own reservations about her, A.L.F.R.E.D. offers that he has found evidence that Brother Eye's intelligence is currently being held off of the satellite, on Cadmus Island.

Meanwhile, in the Huron System, the Agents of S.H.A.D.E. are finally released from stasis by The Engineer, who now works under the command of Brainiac. She explains that the Collector has been unsure of where to place them. Angrily, they demand to know who their captor really is. Obliging, Angela opens up a way for them to see through to the Blood Moon, where Brainiac towers above them.

To their surprise, though, Ray Palmer and Black Adam arrive to come to their rescue.
