Theodore "Cash" Carrigan was a con-artist who used to work in different carnivals until he was uncovered by Superman and Batman. Forced to leave the "hoaxing" business, Carrigan found a mysterious zodiac book which he stole in order to get revenge against Batman and Superman. Carrigan adopted the alias of Doctor Zodiac and started a successful crime spree. However, Carrigan didn't know that everything had been planned by the heroes, who showed up during one of Carrigan's crimes and captured the entire gang of Doctor Zodiac.[1]

Carrigan eventually returned and sought to steal some ancient Atlantean Zodiac coins in order to gain the powers of all the zodiac signs and his plan was almost successful, had he not been stopped by Batman and Superman.[2]

Madame Zodiac

After his defeat, Zodiac was released from prison by Madame Zodiac and they started working for a dark entity.[3] Soon, Zodiac became romantically involved with Madame Zodiac and the two of them started plotting against Batman and Superman.[4] However, when he realized that the dark entity wanted to possess Batman’s body to be unleased on Earth, Zodiac started having second thoughts about his involvement in the affair.[5] When Superman found their lair, Dr. Zodiac helped him defeat Madame Zodiac and the dark entity. However, before the dark entity was defeated, he attacked Dr. Zodiac, leaving him in an unconscious state. Dr. Zodiac was presumably sent to prison again, as he was never seen again.[6]

Abilities

  • This version of Doctor Zodiac, including all history and corresponding appearances, was initially erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985-86 Crisis on Infinite Earths limited series. However the ending of Convergence retroactively prevented that collapse, saving all the alternate realities, though in an "evolved" form. Even though versions of the character may have since appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
