Thurber Avian was a scientist working for the US Air Force. His work involved testing and treating youngsters with leukemia. Following his trials, he absconded with all of his research and was not heard from for several years. Following the Genesis event, he sent one of his bird-like experiments back to the Air Force base to gather the Air Force's analysis of his research. His minion was stopped by Sasha Martens and Wiley Wolverman. The pair soon realized that the doctor experimented on them as youths and that his research had enabled them to grow wings. They quickly joined together as the new Hawk and Dove and trailed him to Canada. Following a skirmish, Avian was killed by an explosion is his lair.
