History

A Toastmaster is the name commonly attributed to a highly advanced state of the art weapons system developed for the United States government by John Henry Irons. The Metropolis arms dealer the White Rabbit stole a cache of Toastmaster guns and began selling them on the streets to various criminal gangs. One of the gangs who came into possession of the Toastmasters was called the Mustangs. During a gang-related drive-by shooting, one of the Mustangs accidentally incinerated a child named Zoid. John Henry Irons witnessed the incident and donned his newly minted "Man of Steel" armor to take down the shooters.
