Quote1 Of all the Lanterns who have ever worn the ring, there was one whose light shined brightest. At first, his humanity was thought to be a weakness. And yet it proved to be his greatest strength. Quote2
Tomar-Re src

Tomar-Re is a member of the Green Lantern Corps.

At some point in his career, Tomar-Re became a member of the Honor Guard, an elite group of the Green Lantern Corps that allowed them to operate on different space sectors. Responding to an Omega alert, Tomar-Re confronted the terrorist Darkfire on X'Hal. The pursuit took them to the Lost Sector, where no Green Lantern was allowed to enter. Still, Tomar-Re went forth and intercepted the terrorist. During the battle, Tomar-Re felt a presence filling him with fear for the first time in his life, but the Green Lantern was able to overcome it and apprehend Darkfire. With barely enough energy to take one person out of the Lost Sector, Tomar-Re was forced to take Darkfire with him, leaving three members of the crashed ship stranded on the planet Ryut.[1] Unbeknownst to him, those three survivors would stumble into Parallax's prison, freeing the fear entity to threaten the universe again.[2]

When Abin Sur died and his ring was passed on to Hal Jordan, Tomar-Re defended Jordan's potential to become a great Green Lantern, despite hailing from a "primitive" race such as humans, as Sinestro branded them.[3] Tomar-Re welcomed Hal Jordan on Oa and introduced him to the Corps.[2]
