Synopsis for "Better Together, Part Five: Deliver Your Children"
At Smith Farm, Poison Ivy describes to Lois Lane how one day, while dreaming in The Green, she came across a mysterious child. Despite the child being born in war, she was surprised by her innocence, and proceeded to raise her. However, one day she was forced out of the world by Mongul, and now she seeks to bring the child back. Lois accuses her of being a psychopath, and demands to know what she has done to Jon, as well as to Clark, Bruce and Diana, however Poison Ivy reassures her that Jon is just unconscious and that she is not here for them, but to find whatever it is on the farm that is harvesting solar energy, as it contains enough to act as a gateway between the worlds.
In the dream world, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman immediately attack Mongul, with Batman noting that he was last seen trapped by Black Mercy, and predicting that that must be what he is using to put them into the dream state. However, Mongul swiftly overpowers them, although he stops short of killing them at the urging of White Mercy, who reminds him that he needs them alive to complete his urge to conquer. The three recover and launch a renewed attack, claiming that the Black Mercy's manipulations have only made them stronger, and that just like the other hallucinations, he will be defeated. At this however, Mongul laughs; this world was not created for them, but rather, for him. What they had experienced was not the result of Black Mercy, but of his child, White Mercy.
He explains how despite having fulfilled his fantasy of killing Superman over and over again, the world of the Black Mercy left him unfulfilled. To fill this void, the world gave him a child, capable of controlling both its dreams and its nightmares. He raised her as a warrior, and the joy of it left him satisfied in a way that simple conquering had not. However, one day, Poison Ivy appeared in their reality, revealing it to be a simple dream holding them prisoner. In a bid to escape, he allowed White Mercy to gain her trust, causing her to let her guard down and reveal that their reality was the creation of the Black Mercy plant, which she had accessed through the Green. Now, he seeks to use them to escape.
The three promise to stop him, however White Mercy reveals that she has already been let into their hearts - as the voice young Clark had heard in the caves, as the psychiatrist who had listened to young Bruce's fears, and as even as Hippolyta instructing the young Diana. With their bodies now empty vessels in the real world, Mongul is now able to take control of Superman, and use his absorption of the powers of the sun to amplify White Mercy's powers, allowing him to conquer their world.
Back at Smith Farm, Ivy tries to reason to Lois that that capturing Clark and the others and knocking Jon unconscious wasn't what she intended to happen; she simply wants to reunite with her daughter. Lois questions how she could do such a thing for a child that isn't even real, however, Poison Ivy wakes Jon up and assures her that she is real to her, and that rather than trying to return to the dream, she is trying to bring her daughter to the real world. To do that, she seeks to use the Clark and his friends - one of them and absorbing vast amounts of solar energy, which would be capable of guiding her daughter from the other side. With that, the three awaken, and a possessed Clark cries out: "Mother, I am here!".
