Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters #1 is an issue of the series Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters (Volume 1) with a cover date of September, 2006. It was published on July 19, 2006.

Synopsis for "Freedom Fighters"

Senator Knight is campaigning for President. During his speech, a disguised figure hides in the crowd of spectators.

Intergang Drug Runner Hargrove Brice is throwing a birthday party for his son. Doll Man, disguised as an action hero, springs from a gift box and orders his team to attack Intergang. In the skirmish, Intergang members are dealt with quickly and Hargrove is killed by injection.

Firebrand leaps in front of the crowd during the Senator's ongoing speech and warns Knight that Uncle Sam is coming soon and he needs to quit misleading the people. The event security quickly takes down Firebrand as Senator Knight continues his speech.

Reporter for DTV, Anderson Peet, recieves an invitation to one of Stormy Knight's private parties. Stormy tells her about why she lives like this and the things she had to endure as a super heroine.

Father Time and Senator Knight debate the Patriot Act. In the heat of the argument, Father Time calls for Gonzo the Bastard Robot, who looks exactly like Knight. The robot quickly kills Knight and takes his place. Father Time then begins interrogating Firebrand on the whereabouts of Uncle Sam. Firebrand remains loyal, and says nothing.

Two hours later, Father Time calls for a meeting with S.H.A.D.E., and their new member, Human Bomb, who receives unpleasant comments from the other team members. Their next mission will be to capture Uncle Sam.
