Vernon Wells was the corrupt assistant to district attourney Harvey Dent. After accepting a bribe from the infamous mob boss Salvatore Maroni, Wells smuggled a vile of fast acting acid into court, giving it to Maroni, passing it off as cough medicine. During Maroni's trial, the criminal mastermind hurled the acid into Dent's face. However, the horrible attack failed to kill Dent, but it only scarred one side of his face.
After, being hospitalized, Dent snapped. He became a criminal known as Two-Face. On Halloween, Dent returned to his old office, finding Wells working late. Flipping his coin, Dent shot Wells to death.
