Synopsis for "Part Two: The Skull Beneath The Skin"

Late at night, Sherlock Holmes is studying at his desk until detecting Dr. Watson's entry. Watson tells Holmes that he couldn't keep his mind off of the "revenant" at Scotland Yard. Holmes, on the other hand, is more concerned with the sudden involvement of the British Secret Service and knowing that there is something more to this. Watson then suspects his friend of having themselves venturing to the site of where the dead workmen were, thanks to his own deductive skills of Holmes' preparedness. He and Holmes defy British Intelligence's warning and start their investigation.

They sneak past the policemen guarding the site and explore the Underground. The two find where the workmen discovered the zombie and decide to dig through the disturbed earth where the zombie came from. They dig through and discover an entire buried London street dating back to the late Elizabethan period—Holmes explains that it is a previous layered city. Watson then discovers a mass grave of human skeletons. Holmes closely examines the skeletons and finds out that they are not ancient given that they are still in their Victorian attire. Watson comes across the corpse of a postman and finds a post on it, discovering that the letters are dated barely a year ago; some of the corpses are only dead recently. The doctor is then suddenly grabbed by a female zombie but is fortunately save by Holmes, who decapitates it with a kukri knife.

Knowing that they are not alone, Holmes fires a flare gun and reveals that they are surrounded by a horde of zombies. With their exit cut off by the undead, Holmes and Watson shoot their pistols at the zombies—at the head as suggested by Holmes. But they are completely outnumbered and their ammunition begins to run out, forcing them to retreat up a fallen stone ramp. Just as the flare begins to burn itself out and all seems very bleak for the two, the chamber is suddenly lit up by multiple flares and the horde is gunned down by armored soldiers wielding machine guns.

The captain leading the soldiers tells Holmes and Watson that they are to come with them in which they oblige. After they are safely with the soldiers, the captain then orders the grenadiers to eliminate the remaining zombies with phosphorus and magnesium. Sherlock suspects that someone had "done this before" before greeting his brother Mycroft Holmes, who has come with the soldiers. Mycroft states that he is fortunate to intercept his brother and Watson from their near ghastly demise and decide it is time for more explanations for the detective and the doctor at the Diogenes Club as they come out to a military checkpoint.

As Holmes, Watson and Mycroft emerge to the surface, they are being observed afar by Colonel Sebastian Moran before making his leave for Whitechapel. He enters a building filled with preserved undead heads in glass jars. Moran reports to his master about Holmes and Watson's discovery of their undead "cache". His master, however, is none too concerned as their plan is going accordingly. After all, he points out that they know how to create a new reserve of the undead, as Moran's master reveals himself to be an undead Professor James Moriarty!
