The Whip is a legacy name used by several Zorro-esque characters in the DC Universe. It was originally used by a swashbuckling 19th Century nobleman named Don Fernando Suarez. Johnny Lash was a cowboy who later used the name. Don Fernando's descendant Rodney Gaynor became the most notable Whip, as a member of the All-Star Squadron. Rodney's grand-daughter Shelly Gaynor also used the name as a member of the Seven Soldiers. There is a League of Assassins member called the Whip in the Seven Men of Death. The Whip was created by John B. Wentworth and George Storm, first appearing in Flash Comics #1. (1940)
