Synopsis for "What Gruesome Grave Awaits Me?"

A tombstone fabricator with the power to predict the gruesome deaths of his clients attempts to alter fate when he foresees his own death after his latest stone creation portrays a man with his face being crushed to death. He knocks unconscious a visitor to the cemetery and tries to remodel the face as the visitor's, but when the visitor bumps him into the stone and it topples upon him, the fated man realizes that he cannot alter destiny.

Synopsis for "Jeanette by Candlefright"

A witch teasing a man who proposes to her suggests that he pursue a rich woman, and he does, but he is unaware that it is merely a spell to get him to propose in earnest. After the witch follows the couple on their date and disrupts it with magic he returns to the witch and proposes, then the hag drops her illusion of beauty, but he reveals that he is a hideous warlock and she is angry at being fooled.

A warlock scapegoats young women to take the blame for his acts of witchcraft but is undone when the father of one of the girls he casts blame on shoots him in the foot and the villagers remove his boot to reveal a cloven hoof.
