When a strange faceless creature appears at Metropolis Hall and uses it's magnetic powers to steal a medal being given to Superman. When news about this hits the radio airwaves, Batman and Robin decide to head to Metropolis to help Superman out. They arrive in time to see the Man of Steel battling the creature. When Superman knocks it out he suddenly spots a plane that is about to crash. Superman is horrified to find that he's lost his ability to fly, and while the pilot manages to parachute to safety, the plane crashes on a rooftop and causes a fire. Batman and Robin arrive and use their acrobatic skills to put the fire out. To their amazement, the creature Superman has just battled takes on the likeness of his face and flies away, making the Man of Steel realize that the creature has stolen his ability to fly.
When the flying creature speed off with some TNT, Superman follows it on foot while Batman and Robin tie up another faceless creature. When Superman uses his super strength to save a replica of the leaning tower of Pisa, he loses his super-strength and the creature that Batman and Robin have roped up breaks free and gets away, when yet another creature appears it steals Superman's x-ray vision before all three creatures escape.
These creatures are all under the control of two crooks who found the ancient castle of alchemist-astronomer Albertus and found a crystal ball that controlled these creatures. They send the three creatures on a crime spree which keep Batman, Robin and Superman busy until they spot the two crooks watching the proceedings. While Superman recovers the crystal, Batman and Robin capture the two crooks. Superman then uses the crystal to restore his powers and then smashes it. Upon the crystals destruction the three creatures fade from existence and the heroes turn the two crooks over to the police.
