When Superman, Batman and Robin are on the chase of a gang of crooks that use a rocket to commit their crime, their attempt to stop them from robbing the Ajax boat companies payroll is made more difficult by the untimely arrival of both Bat-Mite and Mr. Mxyzptlk. The two imps use their magic to trip up Superman (Bat-Mite to make Batman and Robin able to capture the crooks and Mxyzptlk to be a pest) at a rock that Superman is hurling at the crooks getaway rocket. The two creatures magics combine to create a menace that not only changes into a new form when it's previous one is defeated, but cannot be summoned away by either Bat-Mite or Mxyzptlk's power.

Realizing the mess they've made, Bat-Mite and Mxyzptlk agree to help Batman, Robin and Superman contain the creature and stop the rocket gang. When the creature turns int oa fire spewing monstrosity, the two imps create giant water spouts to put out it's flames. When it turns into a giant porcupine the two strike it with lightning bolts turning it into a living magnet monster. This works out for the heroes as it pulls back the rocket gang allowing Superman to easily capture them.

Coming up with a solution to stop the monster, Bat-Mite and Mxyzptlk combine their powers again to create a similar creature. When the two are attracted to each other, their collision destroys them. When Batman, Robin, and Superman attempt to scold the two imps, the decide to disappear back to their home dimensions.
