Synopsis for "The Sorcerer from the Stars"

Checking out radio reports, Batman and Robin find a strange alien creature wrecking railroad tracks outside Gotham City. Robin manages to drive the creature off by throwing smoke bombs at it causing it to flee. Before the Dynamic Duo can chase after it, they have to stop an oncoming train from derailing. They are soon met by Superman, who overheard the radio reports and decided to come to lend Batman and Robin a hand. When another monster sighting is reported, the three heroes rush off to meet it.

Tracking the reports, they arrive to see the creature and it's master break into Institute of Mineralogy, where the monsters master feeds it seemingly worthless samples before being confronted by the Dynamic Duo and the Man of Steel. The alien master introduces himself as Zerno a sorcerer from the planet Y'Bar. When Superman easily fells his Gzann creature, Zerno creates another one that creates massive vibrations that keep Superman busy. When Batman and Robin attempt to get the drop on Zerno, Robin accidentally ropes up Batman by mistake, allowing Zerno to easily escape. As the villain flees on a flying creature, Batman wonders what could have made Robin have such poor aim. Superman meanwhile easily defeats the new creature, causing it to vanish.

Zerno meanwhile breaks into another museum and steals a number of ancient weapons that are on display. Once more being face by Superman, Batman and Robin. During the fight, Superman is kept at bay when Zerno uses his Y'Barian multi-gun to melt a building. When Batman attempts to collar Zerno, Robin suddenly messes up again allowing Zerno to retreat. As Batman checks with Superman (who is using his super breath to freeze the melting building into a stable shape) he tells Superman about how his sidekick is fowling out routine maneuvers. Suspicious, Superman uses his x-ray vision and reveals that Robin has been replaced with an alien from Zerno's world.

As it turns out, Zerno had encountered Robin a day before, when he accidentally stumbled upon his weakness: bronze, in the form of a bronze statue. Saved by his Gzann creature, he captured the Boy Wonder, proved his mind and then used his crystal (which allows him to teleport his creatures and his minions) was able to plant his spy in Batman's midst.

However, Batman and Superman have devised a trick to deal with Zerno's accomplice: When another report of Zerno's crime hits the radios, Superman pretends to speed off to deal with the threat while Batman and "Robin" catch up in the Batmobile. However, Batman takes the fake Robin to a site where "Zerno" would appear to defeat Batman and order his spy to go back to their hideout and wait for his return. With the spy falling for the trick, Batman would follow after to free the real Robin while Superman would go to deal with Zerno.

Zerno's attempted robbery is thwarted when Superman causes his creatures to vanish. Before Zerno can do anything, the real Robin arrives and tosses a bronzed football into the aliens hands weakening him. With Zerno's threat ended, the heroes return to the aliens ship and smash his crystal and Superman takes the two aliens back to their home planet to stand trial for their crimes.
