Synopsis for "The Ghost of Batman"
With Kathy Kane suspecting that Bruce Wayne is really Batman, Bruce has Superman pose as Batman during a televised event for charity while he is out on a date with Kathy, convincing her that Bruce and Batman are two different people. However, this plan backfires when "Batman" and Robin have to go after members of the Sphinx Gang who have been spotted outside of the city. When "Batman" accidentally sets off an explosive booby-trap, Superman has to continue the charade and let everyone think that Batman was killed in the explosion.
As the world mourns the "loss" of Batman, the two heroes let Robin in on how they plan on exploiting this: With Bruce posing as Superman and Superman posing as the "ghost of Batman", they plan on trying to trick the Sphinx Gang into capture. As "Superman", Robin and "Batman's Ghost" try to round up members of the Sphinx Gang, Batwoman -- in grief over Batman's "death" -- has vowed to capture Batman's "killers", and her constant interference forces Batman and Superman to reveal part of their plot.
With Batwoman's help the heroes ultimately capture the Sphinx gang and their leader. Suspecting that Bruce Wayne is Batman once again, the heroes manage to throw her off once more by having Bruce take Kathy out on a date while Batman (really Alfred in disguise) makes an appearance with Superman on live television.
Appearing in "The Doom Hunters"
Synopsis for "The Doom Hunters"
After Aquaman and Aqualad refuse to place prize markers for an undersea treasure hunt in dangerous areas, Wally Welky, head of the Daredevils’ Club, goes ahead with it on his own. Aquaman has to rescue one of the contestants from a whirlpool, thus indicating the need for he and Aqualad to look after the others. When Tom Blake, another member, almost dies from a deliberately-set trap, Aquaman lures Welky into revealing his intentions to murder Blake, his cousin, and thus gain Blake’s uncle’s wealth by inheritance. The heroes capture Welky and his confederates.
