Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne are suddenly struck by visions of each other in deadly peril and both of them set out to help their friend in need. Superman and Batman arrive at the location, but they are forced inside a giant maze from which they cannot escape. Inside the maze, both heroes are separated and they are placed in terrible scenarios designated to break their will. Superman is first exposed to the faces of his most dangerous enemies and then he is placed in a room with the walls made of Green Kryptonite. Meanwhile, Batman is forced to endure a swarm of Bats and then he finds the weakened Superman.
Once the heroes are reunited, they are suddenly attacked by exact replicas of their parents, which force them to retreat from the battle and fall through a trapdoor into another torture chamber. A mysterious voice starts talking to the heroes and they are forced to reveal vital information about themselves and their allies. Finally, the heroes ask to be put out of their mysery and their captors grant them their whish. It is then revealed that the masterminds behinf the whole plot are in fact, Batman and Superman, who wanted to test some recently developed duplicant androids of themselves, but after the cyborgs failed to pass the test, the heroes decide to never use them again.

Synopsis for "Zero Hour in the Silent City!"
This story is reprinted from Green Lantern (Volume 2) #12.
Our story begins with Pieface transcribing another tale of Green Lantern's adventure in his private casebook. He recounts a tale in which Hal was out on a date with Carol and on his way back -- as the 24 hour charge in his power ring was beginning to run out soon -- suddenly founds that all the sound in the immediate area stops. Changing into Green Lantern, he finds some crooks who are using a silencer device to hide the noise the drill they are using to break into a safe is making. Green Lantern then is able to stop the crooks with his power ring just moments before it runs out of power.
