A hail of Green Kryptonite meteors fall in the entire territory of the United States of America and the President starts a cross-country mission to retrieve the chunks of meteorite rocks to be transported in a train dubbed “The Kryptonite Express”, which would be guarded by Superman, Batman and Robin. However, the train is coveted by wealthy train collector K. C. Jones, who has managed to get an spy inside the train and he gets his own mercenary squad to attempt to hijack the train.

The heroes are forced to stop K.C. Jones' men more than once, however, they are eventually tricked by Jones into leaving the train unprotected and the crooks take the chance to steal the train and leave the heroes behind. Superman and Batman realize that the crooks have captured Robin and they chase the train to confront the criminals. During the final struggle, Batman realizes that Robin was in fact Jones' spy and as he deals with the impostor, Superman finds a way to stop the train from leaving American territory.
